Privacy Policy

1. What data we process

We only collect what's needed to provide the service:

• Email address (for your account and login).
• Subscription status (trial, free, lite or pro).
• Search history (your questions and generated guides).
• Favorites (guides you've saved).
• Your timezone (to reset daily limits at midnight your time).
• Whether you've confirmed the one-time AI disclaimer.

We do not collect date of birth, gender, address or phone number.

2. External processors

We only share personal data with the following processors:

• OpenAI — processes your search query to generate a guide and illustrations.
• Base44 — hosting and storage of your account and data.
• Mollie — processes your payment for a paid subscription.

3. Purpose and legal basis

We process your data to provide the service (performance of the contract) and, if you opt in, to send you update emails (consent).

4. Retention period

Your search history is automatically deleted 24 months after your last activity. You'll receive a warning email first, and after a one-month grace period your history is erased. Generated guides remain as an anonymous cache, no longer linked to you.

5. Your rights

• Access and export: view and download all your data via Account → "Download my data".
• Deletion: delete your account and personal data via Account → "Delete account".
• Objection and correction: email us for requests.

6. Cookies

Hackie only uses functional storage (such as your language preference) and no tracking cookies. No consent is needed for functional cookies. We don't use analytical cookies; for any analytics we choose a privacy-friendly service without cookies (such as Plausible).

7. Children

Hackie is not specifically aimed at children and does not collect age. Users under 16 need permission from a parent or guardian (see the Terms). We do not show personalised advertisements.

8. Contact and data controller

9. Right to complain

If you disagree with how we handle your personal data, you have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

Users under 13

Based on the year of birth given at registration, we determine whether a user is under 13. Extra protections apply to these accounts.

The chat and friends feature is not available, guides cannot be shared with other users, and no personalised recommendations based on tracking data are shown. We do not link tracking or analytics IDs to the account — only what is strictly necessary to run the app (account status and daily limit).

Before such an account reaches a payment screen or an external link, a short parent gate (a sum) is shown.

11. Deleting data yourself

You can permanently delete specific data without cancelling your account: your search history and generated guides, your favorites, your chat history with friends and your friends list. Go to Account → “Delete data”. Your account, email, subscription and year of birth are kept.
