Quality & safety
Hackie creates explanations with AI. Below you can read exactly how a guide is made, what we check and where the limits are. We would rather be honest than make it look better than it is.
How a guide is made
You ask a question. An AI model turns it into a set of steps with supplies, tips and common mistakes. Then a drawing is created for every step in one consistent style. If the guide already exists, you see the stored version — that is faster and costs no extra energy.
A second check before publishing
Before a guide becomes visible, a second AI check reviews whether the explanation is correct, whether the steps are concrete enough, whether the topic is suitable for children and whether a safety warning is needed. If something is off, the text is regenerated or the guide is not shown at all. Guides that passed this check carry the "Checked" label.
Topics we refuse
Some jobs do not belong in a step-by-step guide: work on gas and water pipes, the fuse box and electrical circuits, brakes and safety parts of vehicles, working at height, and anything involving medication, diagnoses or legal and financial decisions. Ask about those and you get no steps, but a referral to the right kind of professional. For genuinely risky topics you must confirm a warning before the steps appear.
AI can make mistakes
Even with checks, this remains AI-generated explanation. A step may be missing, a quantity may be wrong, or a drawing may show something slightly different from the text. Always verify important information yourself, and when in doubt use the "Something wrong?" button at the bottom of every guide.
What we do with reports
Every report lands straight in our admin dashboard together with the guide, and we get an email about it. Reports on high-risk guides are looked at first. We aim to review every report within two working days. If the explanation turns out to be wrong or unsafe, we correct the guide or take it offline.
